H&M Grand Opening…Miami style

The new H&M (which I have been patiently awaiting for years) has finally arrived & it’s huge! The pop-up shop on Meridian could only hold me down for so long, but the new two-story venue has made it just in time for the holidays.

There was a red carpet, booze, celebrities, and lots of fashion at the Grand Opening of the new H&M on Lincoln Road Wednesday night and I was one of the lucky ones who got in before the doors officially open today at noon.

NYC DJ, Mia Moretti turned the store into a legit fashion par-tay & Flo Rida even performed later on in the night. Between the jams blaring throughout the store and the super hot male models donned in all white & red bow-ties passing around free drinks, I was one happy shopper.

So let’s get to it. Here’s my Suzie Says review:

Customer Service: The hospitality was out of this world. They might have had their entire staff on deck, but EVERYONE was there to assist and make your shopping experience an absolute pleasure. Big shout out to Cristina in the Menswear fitting room for being amaze & getting me everything I needed!

Sizes:  H&M is known to run a little small so don’t go into a manic depression when you can’t get your size 6 pants to zip up. I should’ve made a note to self prior stepping in to the fitting room, but with all of the excitement I was in a shopaholic daze! But now you guys know, if you’re normally a size 6 you’re most likely going to be a size 8.

Parking: Some people may think Lincoln Road can be tricky for parking, but I’m pleased to announce that there’s a parking garage DIRECTLY behind the store! $1 an hour, you can’t beat that ;)

Kiehl’s on Lincoln Road Charity Event

Today I visited Kiehl’s on Lincoln Road for an urban pop-up picnic and celebrity motorcycle ride off benefitting AIDS research. If you didn’t already know, July is officially National AIDS Awareness month and Kiehl’s has been a part of the Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR for the last three years. Although a “picnic” in the middle of Lincoln Road while it’s 95 degrees outside was not ideal, the event was for a great cause.

Twenty-something motorcycle enthusiasts including a few celebrities were there to kick off the nine-day event that will take the bikers on an 1,800 mile drive to Washington D.C making stops along the way to raise money for amfAR, The Foundation for Aids Research.

The event was short but sweet and we got to try some delicious wraps made by FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen Contestant and Palate Party Food Truck owner, Robyn Almodovar.

I also managed to snap a pretty good picture of actor, John Corbett of Sex & The City and Serendipity to name a few. I felt like the real life Carrie!

Be on the lookout for the full story on this event at www.InTheSceneMIAMI.com

H&M POP UP SHOP GRAND OPENING ON LINCOLN ROAD.

Miami fashionistas get ready for your newest shopping addiction! After years of the rumors, waiting, whining, & having to travel elsewhere to get your shop on at H&M, it’s finally opened up at home!

The real H&M replacing the old Lincoln Theater is still under massive construction, but the lovely people at H&M love Miami so much they decided to open up shop on the corner of Lincoln & Meridian for the meantime. I mean, it’s the least they could do! How Miami was chosen as the sixth city for an H&M in Florida is beyond me but I’m over that now because it’s finally here! Now let’s get to the good stuff!

When I first heard the grand opening was going to be happening early I called up the troops -you know, my girlfriends. Thankfully, my good friend Zunia was down for the adventure. We woke up Friday morning & headed out in the rain. Nothing was going to stop us! I figured we were at an advantage since most people work on Fridays & the rain would keep the weak ones away LOL.

Once we arrived (at 10am) I was in shock. Was no one really as crazy as me?! There were only 3 girls in line! We decided to hide from the rain for a bit while we plotted what we would be buying. Once 11am rolled around our hearts couldn’t take it. We went to stand in line & slowly but surely the crowds began to hover. The press was there, photographers galore, fashion bloggers, men, women, and even a few little kids were in line. Chad Ochocinco & Evelyn Lozada even got their shop on today; they didn’t have to wait in line though, obvs.

There was music, a pep squad, & even a countdown. Finally, we were let in! To my surprise everyone acted pretty civilized. I was having Black Friday flashbacks but everyone was great! I managed to grab a few (who am I kidding?), a ton of cute stuff & was ready to try them on until I realized it would take me at least an hour to get to the front of the fitting room line. I decided, what the heck? & got it all anyways. The employees made sure everyone knew returns & exchanges could be made up to 30 days from the purchase date which was great & saved us a lot of time. The store only has 3 tiny fitting rooms which was probably the biggest issue.

The temporary location is no where near the size of your typical H&M but it did the trick for now. It’s stocked with tons of bathing suits (all starting at $4.95), lots of beach cover-ups, maxi’s, shorts, tops & more all for great prices. I was surprised to find that the most expensive item I bought was my $34.95 wedges (which I’m completely in love with). I’m not sure if all H&M’s are offering these items but this store definitely has Miami written all over it!

Chad Ochocinco

Evelyn Lozada shopping

$34.95 wedges

$14.95 coral capris

$14.95 bathing suit

$24.95 cover-up dress

$4.95 bikini top & $17.95 chifon skirt

$12.95 clutch

All in all, it was a great success & Zunia & I were two very happpyyy campers!

THANKFUL IN MIAMI.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving here are the Top 5 Suzie Says is thankful for!

  • One of my favorite NYC restaurants is opening up in Miami! If you’ve never seen the movie Serendipity, or have never eaten anything off the world’s largest menu you are seriously missing out! Serendipity 3 will open up on Lincoln Road by the end of the year! I can’t wait for some Frozen Hot Chocolate! Yum!

  • There may still be an NBA lockout & it’s unfortunate we can’t watch our Miami Heat play, but at least we can be thankful for the Miami Marlins & our brand new stadium right? I can’t wait!

  • While France government banned Rihanna’s ‘We Found Love’ video from being played on any of their channels, we can be thankful that our country isn’t so uptight. So watch the video all you want & be thankful!
  • As some of you may know, I’m over the Kardashians. All of them, even Bruce. I’ve unfollowed them on Twitter & refused to vote for Rob on Dancing with the Stars. It’s serious. So this is why I am so thankful that this season none of the Kardashians will be “taking” Miami. This city is ours, go take New York.
  • & last but not least, while the rest of the country has seen crazy amounts of snow since October ,we Miami residents can be thankful for our amazing weather year round! Pool party anyone?
