ARTIST OF THE WEEK: ANJULI STARS.

There’s no doubt in my mind that the self-proclaimed Dade County Empress will soon be recognized as ‘Miss 305’ . Her lyrics are meaningful & relatable, her beats are on point with some reggae influence, & her voice is without a doubt angelic.

Anjuli has music in her blood and recorded her first demo at age 16. Since then, she has opened up for Lil Kim, Young Jeezy, & Lil Wayne at the MTV Music Awards in 2005, graduated from Berklee School of Music in Boston in 2008, & has even collaborated with Mr. 305 himself on her original track ‘Raindrops’.

You can download her mix tape Starvation Volume 1 from her website for free. 9 songs, all amazing. Check out 2 of my favorites below!

The Cat Fight Continues.

In the hip hop world, beef & competition come hand in hand. It’s in the lyrics, in the videos, interviews, etc. Rappers make it publicly known when they have issues with others in the industry and female rappers are no exception.

For years Lil Kim was at the top of the female rap game — mostly because there was no one else with a vagina that could really rap. But as the years passed, and other females joined in and Kim faded away, but credit was never taken from the self-proclaimed “Queen B” who broke the ice for future female rappers to come through — until now.

The very public beef between Lil Kim and Nikki Minaj has been nasty from the start and although Kim hasn’t even been around in forever she wants to make sure that everyone remembers that she is still alive and kicking and therefore no one should refer to Nikki as the greatest female rapper alive.

I mean, I think that’s what she’s trying to get across with her new mix tape cleverly titled Black Friday where Kim decapitated Nikki with a giant sword. Right?

Should Lil Kim just get over it & pass on the torch to Nikki Minaj? Or does she still have it in her to be the Queen B?

Do you think she took it too far or is this just part of the game?
