Red Bull Flugtag MIAMI

It was Flying Day in Miami this past Saturday, and I was of course there to capture it all for my loyal readers. Bayfront Park was the perfect location for the incredible event featuring 30 teams and their somewhat ridiculous flying contraptions.

I got to interview a few of the event judges including Audrina Patridge of MTV’s The Hillsand boyfriend/BMX rider/super hot Australian,  Corey Bohan. *swooon*

It was Corey’s first time in the MIA & Audrina had never been to a Flugtag event but both judges knew exactly what they were looking for. “We’re looking for personality, and if the craft flies, then that’s a bonus,” said Corey. ”

Audrina saw a few planes she liked, but none made the cut. “Twisted sisters I think has a pretty good chance. There’s a presidential one that’s pretty funny. It’s like the Air Force One, you know, the presidents plane and that looks legit.”

The judges based off of creativity, skits, and actual distance.

It was a perfect day at Bayfront Park and everyone seemed to have had a great time at the event. After the 30 teams fell flew in to Biscayne Bay, it was obvious the race would not be a close one. Team Magic Carpet Ride blew everyone out of the water with the longest flight of all the contestants & Team Angry Birds won the award for People’s Choice.

I can’t wait for the next time Red Bull brings Flugtag to Miami! Check out some of the photos below provided by myself and Robert Snow.

Cris Cab at Grand Central.

A little over a year ago I featured Cris Cab as my Artist of the Week, last week the unimaginable occurred. Not only was I lucky enough to watch him perform live, but I got to sit down with the young up-and-coming singer and ask him a few questions.

Check out the footage below from last week’s performance at Grand Central & my one-on-one with Cris after the show!

Lila Nikole 2013 Electrika Preview

It’s natural for people to acquire inspiration from their surroundings. So when your surroundings just happen to be neon colors, flashing lights, electronic music, and a lively Miami backdrop at Ultra Music Fest the outcome is bound to be ELECTRIKA.

This weekend I was invited to attend the Electricka 2013 Swimwear Preview Collection by one of Miami’s own most successful swimwear designers, Lila Nikole. The New York Native who says she considers Miami her home debuted her new line at Bamboo Nightclub in front of a packed house Friday night as part of the many fashion events going on around town for Miami Swim Week.

The Electrika Collection was just that, 30 electric and vibrant swimsuits combining psychedelic patterns and bold colors with fringe, mesh, crochet, and even a little sequence for that oh so very Miami touch. The fashion show featured some muy caliente Miami Dolphin’s Cheerleaders strutting one of a kind bikinis and sexy one-piece swimsuits that had everyone’s attention.

I sat down with Lila before the show and she told me she’s been designing swimwear for six years and sewing since she was a little girl.

For my full interview with Lila, photos from the show, & how you can purchase swimsuits from the Electrika collection, check out http://www.InTheSceneMiami.com

Kiehl’s on Lincoln Road Charity Event

Today I visited Kiehl’s on Lincoln Road for an urban pop-up picnic and celebrity motorcycle ride off benefitting AIDS research. If you didn’t already know, July is officially National AIDS Awareness month and Kiehl’s has been a part of the Kiehl’s LifeRide for amfAR for the last three years. Although a “picnic” in the middle of Lincoln Road while it’s 95 degrees outside was not ideal, the event was for a great cause.

Twenty-something motorcycle enthusiasts including a few celebrities were there to kick off the nine-day event that will take the bikers on an 1,800 mile drive to Washington D.C making stops along the way to raise money for amfAR, The Foundation for Aids Research.

The event was short but sweet and we got to try some delicious wraps made by FOX’s Hell’s Kitchen Contestant and Palate Party Food Truck owner, Robyn Almodovar.

I also managed to snap a pretty good picture of actor, John Corbett of Sex & The City and Serendipity to name a few. I felt like the real life Carrie!

The Greatest Anti-Valentine Celebration To Hit Miami.

For singles across the country, there is no worse day to be single than February the 14th.  Frankly, I don’t mind being single (most of the time). I mean, I can go out freely with whomever I want, whenever I want. I never have to deal with drama or jealousy or bickering. And I can always laugh at those who deal with drama, jealousy, and bickering on a constant basis and be completely grateful that I can live my life freely & happy.

But lets face it, as much as some of us would like skip over this ridiculous Hallmark invented “holiday”– we can’t. It’s almost impossible to avoid the haunting red, heart-shaped balloons peeking over our cubicles, the immense bouquets of roses that are delivered to our friends & co-workers, and not to mention the tacky chocolate roses & stuffed animals some people probably send themselves.

So if you’re single this year, who cares?! Forget staying in to watch sappy movies & binge on Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey. Forget going out with the girls for dinner & drinks (every restaurant will be too packed with gross couples anyways). Instead, go to The Electric Pickle this Monday in Midtown for the “F*CK LOVE” Celebration of the Single Life party!

The rules are simple –NO RED & NO PINK!

Join In The Scene MIAMI & DJ Ash Rock for an unforgettable crazy fun night!

Miami Beach International Fashion Week Kick Off Party.

Last week, I attended the Miami Beach International Fashion Week Kick Off event at the Mondrian South Beach with some of my In The Scene Miami friends. It was a gorgeous event honoring ten of the most philanthropic members of the Miami community including NBC 6’s Jackie Nespral and founder of the No More Tears project, Somy Ali,

There was champagne everywhere, delicious hors d’oeuvres being passed around, a silent auction sponsored by Tiffany & Co. and models showing off gorgeous gowns poolside with the Miami skyline behind them.

Check out a picture taken by our new friend from MiamiBeatsAndSazon.com and be sure to follow @InTheSceneMiami on Twitter for all the latest news on events going on in Miami!
