I FEEL A FEVER COMING ON..

As I’m sure most of you know, 99.9 % of my posts on Justin Bieber sole purpose is to make fun of him. So as much as it pains me to say that I’m actually diggin’ his new single, I totally am.

I first heard about it over a week ago & I tried, I really tried so hard not to even listen to it. The other night, on my way home from work however, I fell into the Bieber trap. It was playing on Y100 & the Pharell type beats & sneaky Justin Timberlake-esque voice really got me. As soon as the song was over I switched over to Power96, & there it was again.

I can’t deny it anymore. Like a good friend of mine always says, I guess it’s just a game of probability. It was only a matter of time before I caught the Bieber Fever.

Check out his latest single ‘Boyfriend’ off his fourth album Believe. It’s co-written & co-produced by Mike Posner which is no wonder why it’s so hot & so un-bieberish. Smart move Justin. A video for the song is already in the works. For now, just listen to it below.

& while you’re at it check out my former Artist Pick of the Week Drew Tabor do her version of the song. She’s awesome!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: THE WEEKND.

Sexy time? Then you’re gonna want some Abel Tesfaye in your life. The mystery man better known to some as The Weeknd can turn any situation into a sexy one with his soulful voice and seductive beats. It only takes is a few seconds before he’s got your attention and soon enough his sound will catch on with the rest of the world.

The 20-year-old from Ontario may be young, but he’s here to prove that Canada has more to offer than just Celine Dion & Drake –who by the way is his mentor (Drake..not Celine in case you were confused).

The Weeknd released his first mix-tape House of Balloons in March of this year and later released Thursday in August. The last mix-tape of the trilogy, Echoes of Silence is set to come out this Fall –possibly October 24th according to his last tweet. Follow him if you tweet @theweekndxo

Check him out for yourself & let me know what you think! I couldn’t just pick one video. They’re all so good!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: MARIA ZOUROUDIS.

It’s not every day I find a YouTube cover artist that I absolutely adore, so when I do find one I like to make a really big deal about them –mostly cause I think they deserve all the support they can get. This week’s pick is a Sarasota native who just so happens to be a Gator like me & now lives in Miami.

The Greek-American songstress not only creatively turns her version of popular songs into something that tends to sound better than the original, but she also writes her own music, and writes songs for other artists as well.

If you’re in the Miami area, you may be lucky enough to catch her performing live. Go on the link below to find out when & where she will be playing around town.

But before you do that, check out some of my favorite covers by Maria below & tell me what you think!

You can watch more of her videos & listen to some of her original work on her website www.mariazouroudis.com

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: THE NAKED & FAMOUS.

Once again, I have my lovely satellite radio to thank for the discovery of this awesome band. The Naked & Famous are an indie rock band from New Zealand who sound a little MGMT-ish (which is a huge compliment) with a twist.

Their first studio album Passive Me, Aggressive You debuted almost a year ago & it is awesome! It’s one of those albums you can just listen to the whole way thru without skipping any songs.

If you’re into Vampire Diaries, Gossip Girl, or Degrassi you maybe have heard a few of their songs which have been featured on a couple of episodes. Check out my faves below!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: CRIS CAB.

Interview with Deco Drive..check.

Attend High School graduation..check.

Release first EP..check.

Just in time for new summer jams, I introduce to you Cris Cab. The 18-year-old Miami native who just walked across the stage at  Coral Gables Senior High’s graduation days ago (literally) has just released his first EP.

With his smooth sound, reggae style, mellow attitude, and some help from Pharrell I don’t doubt that Cris Cab will be Miami’s next big thing.

Yup, that’s right. Pharrell introduced Cris in December of last year to a crowd of people poolside one night at Arkadia in the Fontainebleau where Cris performed a few songs solo as well with The Neptunes & N.E.R.D. star.

Six months later, Cris Cab has released his first EP titled FOREWORD after 2 years of working on the album & ONLY today can you download his entire album FOR FREE on his website. I checked it out & I love it. Download it! Cause I say so ;)

He’s a cross between Shwayze (You know..Baby would you be my Corona & lime?) & Bob Marley (a Cuban-American, 18-year-old Bob Marley with no dreads).

Check out his site & download the EP here: http://criscab.com/ & watch his official video for his song ‘Good Girls’ & his awesome remake of ‘All Of The Lights’ below! I also added the video for ‘My Life’ cause I just couldn’t help myself. Someone pass me a drink & build me a hammock cause I want to be on vacation with Cris Cab right now!

Tell me what you think!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: DREW TABOR.

A few months ago I discovered Danny Vola on YouTube (& if you haven’t heard of him yet you MUST CLICK THIS RIGHT NOW because he’s amazing & is really getting a lot of exposure now). But this post isn’t about Danny, it’s about a girl who might as well be the female version of him.

Drew Tabor is an aspiring musician living in LA, & her version of Nicki Minaj’s ‘Super Bass’ is out of this world. She completely transforms the song into her own & nails it. I’m not a huge fan of ‘Super Bass’ but I absolutely love love love Drew’s cover. Check it out below!

My wish come true would be for Danny Vola & Drew Tabor to perform together. Make it happen guys & spread the word about these two!!

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: DEV.

I only have one word to describe Dev, & it’s BADASS.

The 21-year-old California native was discovered by The Cataracs 3 years ago when someone uploaded a cover of an Amy Winehouse song she did as a “diss track” for her ex-boyfriend on MySpace.

Her song ‘Booty Bounce’ was used in The Cataracs’ Billboard Hot 100 song ‘Like A G6’ and the rest is history. After that, Dev signed with Universal Republic at the end of last year & is now trying to be known for more than just the female voice behind The Far East Movement’s über popular song.

Currently she’s on tour with Usher & The Cataracs but I say she’ll be touring on her own in no time!

Check out some of my favorite Dev songs below!

& she’s a blogger too! Check out her blog http://devishot.com/

ARTIST OF THE WEEK: BIG SEAN.

Big Sean is Finally Famous and he sure deserves it. If you’ve never heard of him he’s basically a cross between Fabolous & Lil Duval, but his sound is one of a kind and he has big names like Drake using his flow (but at least he gave him credit).

The Def Jam signed artist was born in Santa Monica, but raised in Detroit & is possibly the most talented rapper to come out of the Michigan area since Eminem. Sean was discovered  a few years ago by Kanye West at a local Detroit radio station where he would rhyme weekly to get exposure. After that, Kanye played the role of his mentor for a while until 2007 when personally called up Sean and had him sign with G.O.O.D. music.

He’s collaborated with artists like Mike Posner, Chiddy Bang, Kanye West, Kid Cudi, and now most recently, Chris Brown.

Big Sean’s debut album Finally Famous Volume 3 is officially being released June 21st so be sure to check it out!

Listen to the remix Sean did of one of my favorites, Adele’s ‘Hometown Glory’ & then check out one of his originals, ‘Supa Dupa Lemonade’.

BTW, someone needs to make a ‘Hometown’ about Miami..anyone? ;)
