Pop Up Piano Miami Debuts Art Basel Pianos.

As December approaches, most people are feeling anxious about Christmas. However, due to the lack of Christmas-like weather Miami is dealt each year, I’m anxious about Basel.

Pop Up Piano Miami combines the love of art, music and charity while enriching the community.

Last night I attended my first Art Basel event of the year, Pop Up Piano Miami’s Pre-Basel mixer where 8 different artists from around Miami displayed Steinway pianos with their own personal twists. Artists included Eric Estrada AKA Wase One, Ivan Roque, Desiree Kawass, Rodrigo Gaya, Federico Carosio III, Ruben Ubiera, Alexander Mijares and Ross Von Rosenberg.

The artists were chosen out of dozens of applicants by the Pop Up Piano Committee to customize Steinway-donated pianos, creating an original, one-of-a kind, functional pieces of art. The pianos are then put on public display throughout the community during Art Basel Miami Beach Week, making it one of the city’s most wide-spread music and public arts project during Basel Week.

The event was held at the Miami Ironside Warehouse, an absolute perfect venue in Wynwood. Crowds of art lovers gathered around to be the first to see the colorful pianos in person. Thanks to social media, I got to see bits and pieces of the pianos beforehand, but in person they were simply breathtaking.

KIND Snacks and Pattycake Bakery provided the snacks. Steep City Teas & Deep Eddy Vodka provided the drinks & DJ Scotty K provided the tunes.

A BIG shout out goes out to the incredible Pop Up Piano committee for creating such an amazing program and event.

Visit the Pop Up Miami official website  for more information on their gala taking place on Dec. 5 at the Perry Hotel South Beach.

Stay tuned for my upcoming Basel posts! Happy Baseling! xo

H&M Grand Opening…Miami style

The new H&M (which I have been patiently awaiting for years) has finally arrived & it’s huge! The pop-up shop on Meridian could only hold me down for so long, but the new two-story venue has made it just in time for the holidays.

There was a red carpet, booze, celebrities, and lots of fashion at the Grand Opening of the new H&M on Lincoln Road Wednesday night and I was one of the lucky ones who got in before the doors officially open today at noon.

NYC DJ, Mia Moretti turned the store into a legit fashion par-tay & Flo Rida even performed later on in the night. Between the jams blaring throughout the store and the super hot male models donned in all white & red bow-ties passing around free drinks, I was one happy shopper.

So let’s get to it. Here’s my Suzie Says review:

Customer Service: The hospitality was out of this world. They might have had their entire staff on deck, but EVERYONE was there to assist and make your shopping experience an absolute pleasure. Big shout out to Cristina in the Menswear fitting room for being amaze & getting me everything I needed!

Sizes:  H&M is known to run a little small so don’t go into a manic depression when you can’t get your size 6 pants to zip up. I should’ve made a note to self prior stepping in to the fitting room, but with all of the excitement I was in a shopaholic daze! But now you guys know, if you’re normally a size 6 you’re most likely going to be a size 8.

Parking: Some people may think Lincoln Road can be tricky for parking, but I’m pleased to announce that there’s a parking garage DIRECTLY behind the store! $1 an hour, you can’t beat that ;)

Red Bull Flugtag MIAMI

It was Flying Day in Miami this past Saturday, and I was of course there to capture it all for my loyal readers. Bayfront Park was the perfect location for the incredible event featuring 30 teams and their somewhat ridiculous flying contraptions.

I got to interview a few of the event judges including Audrina Patridge of MTV’s The Hillsand boyfriend/BMX rider/super hot Australian,  Corey Bohan. *swooon*

It was Corey’s first time in the MIA & Audrina had never been to a Flugtag event but both judges knew exactly what they were looking for. “We’re looking for personality, and if the craft flies, then that’s a bonus,” said Corey. ”

Audrina saw a few planes she liked, but none made the cut. “Twisted sisters I think has a pretty good chance. There’s a presidential one that’s pretty funny. It’s like the Air Force One, you know, the presidents plane and that looks legit.”

The judges based off of creativity, skits, and actual distance.

It was a perfect day at Bayfront Park and everyone seemed to have had a great time at the event. After the 30 teams fell flew in to Biscayne Bay, it was obvious the race would not be a close one. Team Magic Carpet Ride blew everyone out of the water with the longest flight of all the contestants & Team Angry Birds won the award for People’s Choice.

I can’t wait for the next time Red Bull brings Flugtag to Miami! Check out some of the photos below provided by myself and Robert Snow.

Because a tattoo is more permanent than a marriage.

Chad Johnson, Pepe, Ochocinco.

Whatever you know him as, you know that his career and his relationship as we know it, are dunzo –at least for the time being.

After a ridiculously short marriage that even puts Kim Kardashian to shame, Chad & Eve are no more. His start as a Miami Dolphin is no more (although that actually might save him a little shame), and his third shot at a reality television show is no more.

But lets face it, everyone knows reality shows based around newlyweds only end up in divorce, so maybe this was the universe’s way of saying “let’s just save some face & get this over with.”

Regardless of everything, I feel bad for the guy. Mostly, because I follow him on Twitter and ever since this whole novela occurred, he’s been pretty quiet. My Twitter feed isn’t nearly as entertaining as it was pre-headbutt and it’s devastating. But I also feel bad because regardless if he really did buy those condoms at Walgreen’s and actually use them on some groupie, I have reason to believe that Evelyn Lozada is a fucking nutcase and most likely instigated the entire fight. I mean, have you ever watched an episode of Basketball Wives? She is vicious.

Anyways, it is what it is. He did an unforgivable thing by hitting her, and she has all the right to want a divorce. She made it pretty clear in her interview with Nightline that she wants nothing to do with him and thinks he needs help. But let’s be real, even Rihanna’s beating didn’t keep her away from Chris Brown.

So what does Chad do to get his woman back? No, he doesn’t start therapy sessions, he gets a tattoo of Evelyn’s face on the side of his leg. Thoughts?

My Miami Spa Month Experience

While most people in Miami were raiding their local Publix for bottled water and batteries this Friday preparing for the storm that was going to take over our weekend, I was getting a massage.

I mean, it was still Spa Month and the weather was lovely on the beach so I headed to the Mondrian South Beach for a 10 a.m. massage at the Agua Spa. It was the most amazing and relaxing experience I’ve ever had, and after a long night I don’t think there’s anything better.

After the spa package that included a 60-minute Swedish massage, a hand and foot scrub and a scalp treatment I felt like a brand new person. It was the perfect way to start my Friday morning. Regardless of the masseuse calling me “Lissette” the entire time, I was so relaxed that I didn’t even care to correct her.

Once my massage was over, I hung out in a zen type room for a while before heading back to the locker room. I got changed out of my robe and then headed straight to the pool. If you’ve never been to the Mondrian before, I highly recommend it. Their pool is one of my favorites in the city. The view of the bay is one of a kind and their poolside menu is pretty impressive as well.

If you want to enjoy Miami Spa Month at the Agua Spa in the Mondrian, there’s still time. Take advantage of this $99 deal before it’s gone!

Could This Be The Next One Direction Hit?

Attention all One Direction fans! You must check out the song a very talented friend of mine submitted to One Direction in hopes that they’ll include it in their upcoming album.

I gotta admit, I’m not exactly a One Direction fan and I didn’t even know who they were until recently because quite honestly, I don’t hang out with 10-year-olds and I stopped following boy bands the minute Justin went solo. I am however, a big fan of Richard Mason, not only because he is like family but because Simon Cowell called him a musical genius -true story.

Take a listen to the song he co-wrote with Maret Escarment. The video has already gotten tons of attention from One Direction fan girls and has over 100,000 views! Whether you’re a 1D fan or not, check it out. I’m already obsessed. Would you wanna hear this on One Direction’s new album??
